Terms of Service

Welcome to TaskA. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the TaskA website (taskaliving.com), mobile application (TaskA), and related services (collectively, the “Services”), operated by TaskA (Pvt) Ltd (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use our Services.

1. Service Description

TaskA is a home services platform operating in Sri Lanka that connects customers with service providers for cleaning, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, pest control, landscaping, painting, carpentry, security, and related home maintenance services. We facilitate bookings, payments, and communication between customers and providers. TaskA itself does not perform the services — we are a platform connecting you with independent service providers.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use our Services
  • You must provide accurate, complete, and current registration information
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
  • One person may not maintain more than one account without our written permission

3. User Obligations

You agree not to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations of Sri Lanka or your jurisdiction
  • Provide false, misleading, or fraudulent information
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Services, servers, or networks
  • Use the Services to harass, abuse, or harm others
  • Post reviews that are false, defamatory, or not based on actual service experiences
  • Circumvent our payment systems or attempt to pay providers directly to avoid platform fees
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of our application

4. Bookings & Cancellations

When you book a service through TaskA, you enter into a direct service agreement with the assigned provider. TaskA facilitates but is not a party to that agreement.

  • Scheduling: You select a date and time slot. Confirmation is subject to provider availability. We will notify you if your selected slot is unavailable.
  • Cancellation by Customer: You may cancel a booking through the app while it is in “pending” or “confirmed” status. Cancellations after the provider has been dispatched may incur a cancellation fee.
  • Cancellation by Provider: If a provider cancels, we will attempt to reassign your booking or offer a full refund of any advance payment.
  • No-Show: If you are not present at the service address at the scheduled time and the provider cannot reach you, the booking may be cancelled and you may be charged.

5. Payments & Fees

Service prices are displayed in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR) and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.

  • Payment Methods: PayHere (online — cards, net banking, wallet) or Cash on Service. Cash payments are collected by the provider upon service completion.
  • Online Payments: Processed securely through PayHere. TaskA does not store your credit/debit card details. PayHere’s terms and privacy policy apply to their handling of your payment data.
  • Refunds: Refund eligibility depends on the circumstances (provider cancellation, service not rendered as described, duplicate payment). Refund requests must be submitted within 7 days of the service date. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method within 14 business days.
  • Promo Codes: Discount codes are subject to specific terms (minimum order, expiry date, usage limits). We reserve the right to void discounts applied in error or through fraudulent means.

6. Subscriptions

TaskA offers optional subscription plans that provide discounts on service bookings.

  • Billing Cycles: Monthly or yearly. Prices are displayed before purchase.
  • Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period. You will be charged the subscription fee through your chosen payment method unless cancelled.
  • Apple App Store / Google Play: On iOS, subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID and billed by Apple. On Android, subscriptions are managed through the app and billed via PayHere. Applicable store refund policies apply.
  • Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through the app (Profile → My Subscription → Cancel). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain your discounts until the period ends. No partial refunds for unused time.
  • Price Changes: We will notify you of subscription price changes at least 30 days in advance. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.
  • Free Trials: If offered, free trials convert to paid subscriptions at the end of the trial period unless cancelled. Limit one trial per user.

7. Reviews & Ratings

  • After a completed booking, you may rate the service (1-5 stars) and leave an optional comment
  • Reviews must be truthful and based on your actual experience
  • We reserve the right to remove reviews that violate these Terms (fraudulent, abusive, irrelevant, or containing personal information)
  • Your name and rating will be visible to other users browsing the service

8. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, trademarks, logos, designs, software code, and materials on the TaskA platform are the exclusive property of TaskA (Pvt) Ltd or its licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written permission. The “TaskA” name and logo are trademarks of TaskA (Pvt) Ltd.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Sri Lankan law:

  • TaskA is a platform that connects customers with independent service providers. We are not liable for the quality, safety, timeliness, or outcome of services performed by providers
  • TaskA is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • TaskA’s total liability for any claim arising from use of the Services is limited to the amount you paid for the specific booking giving rise to the claim
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation of the Services

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TaskA (Pvt) Ltd, its directors, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Services, violation of these Terms, or infringement of third-party rights.

11. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms, fraudulent activity, abusive behavior toward providers, or any conduct we deem harmful to the platform or other users. You may delete your account at any time through the app (Profile → Delete Account) or via https://taskaliving.com/delete-account.

12. Third-Party Services

Our Services integrate with third-party services including Firebase (infrastructure), PayHere (payment processing), and Google Cloud (hosting). We are not responsible for the availability, terms, or practices of third-party services. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms.

13. Modifications to Services & Terms

  • We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Services at any time
  • We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance
  • Pricing, subscription plans, and available services are subject to change

14. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
